The 2nd ICC Indonesian Arbitration Day on 21st November 2019 gathered leading practitioners from Indonesia and abroad to discuss the most important and recent updates in both domestic and international arbitration. Which began with an Inaugural Session and followed by four sessions. The topics include: an ‘Overview of International Arbitration’, a ‘Presentation on Emergency Arbitration’, a ‘Mock Emergency Arbitration’,  and ‘A Focus on Energy, Construction and Infrastructure Dispute’.     

As our Managing Partner, Tony Budidjaja presented Arb-Med-Arb at the Overview of International Arbitration, concluded that it is important for parties to choose professional arbitrator and mediator wisely and with care, in the hope of attaining a higher level of efficiency and effectiveness for dispute resolution.

On Tuesday, 19 November 2019, our good affiliate, The Indonesian Academy of Independent Mediators and Arbitrators (“MedArbId”) held an extensive discussion on the topic of “Arb-Med-Arb: Will it Settle Disputes More Effectively?”

This event was brought by 4 (four) distinguished practitioners as the Speakers, namely Mr. Ahmad Zazali, (Executive Director of the Impartial Mediator Network), Mr. Lawrence Foo (Partner at Wong Partnership LLP – Singapore), Mr. Rangin Prabowo (Partner at Makes & Partners), and Mr Ilman Rakhmat (Managing Partner at Rakhmat Suroso Adinugraha Advocates). To facilitate the discussions, MedArbId had invited our own Junior Associates Yason F. Tarigan and Naila Sjarif as the Moderators.

The panel had unravelled the key features, types of disputes, pros and cons, and implications of undergoing mediation, arbitration as well as the amalgamation between the two, namely arb-med-arb, in the hope of attaining a higher level of efficiency and effectiveness for dispute resolution.

On Thursday, 21st November 2019, Budidjaja International lawyers is honoured by Bizcom Indonesia’s invitation to The 33rd Investor Gathering Bizcom Indonesia Investment and Opportunity in Indonesia – Hong-Kong – China Relations and Digital Economy held at Fairmont Jakarta Hotel.

This event brought together top Indonesia – China business owners, investors, bankers, professionals, start-up founders. Our own associates, Rizqi Bangun Lestari and Erick Sanjaya shared insights about the investment overview in Indonesia as well as through the aspect of China’s investment and investment pitfalls to avoid together with Mr Adi Harsono, Board of Commissioner of PT Pelita Samudra Shipping and Managing Director of PT Chantian Weiye Indonesia. As well as Mr Evan Pujonggo, Second Secretary of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Beijing.
