Benjamin Franklin (1706 – 1790) was an American polymath who was active as a printer, publisher, author, inventor, scientist and diplomat. Franklin helped draft and signed the United States Declaration of Independence, and represented the United States in France during the American Revolution.

Franklin had a passion for virtue and was devoted to egalitarianism, education, industry, thrift, honesty, temperance, charity and community spirit.
