Share

In this #BILLawFact, our Senior Associate Agnes Beatrice and Associate Qandyas Wahyu Sabila discuss the latest regulatory development regarding mandatory certification for Indonesian-flagged barges transporting nickel ore, as introduced by DGST Decree 358/2025.

The Decree mandates compliance with the IMSBC Code by setting out technical requirements for barge operations, including moisture control measures, loading conditions, and lashing certifications. It also introduces a certification regime valid for 12 months and ties enforcement to the Decree’s enactment on 13 June 2025.

This regulatory shift aims to enhance safety and environmental compliance in the domestic maritime transport of nickel ore.
