Overview of the Amendments to the Indonesian Mining Law

The House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia has passed the Bill on the Amendment (“Bill”) of Law No. 4 Year 2009 regarding Minerals and Coal Mining (“Mining Law”) earlier this month. The President’s signature is required for the Bill to be passed into law. As of this date, the President still has not signed the Bill. If the President does not do so within 30 days after being passed by the House of Representatives, the Bill will automatically enter into force as a law. Partner, Narada Kumara, with Associate, Naila Sjarif, from Mining Practice Group sets forth a handful of noteworthy changes made to the Bill in this Legal Alert.
