Rana Sajjad is a Partner at Rana Ijaz & Partners, a Lahore-based law firm, and Founder & President of the Center for International Investment and Commercial Arbitration (CIICA), Pakistan’s first international arbitration center. He is a dual-qualified lawyer (licensed in New York and Pakistan) having over 15 years’ experience of practicing law in Pakistan and the U.S. in the practice areas including contracts, cross-border transactions, commercial litigation and domestic and international arbitration. He has advised clients in the energy, technology, telecom, manufacturing and construction sectors and has also represented clients before courts and arbitral tribunals in matters involving contractual, commercial and investment disputes.

Sajjad is a member of the panel of arbitrators of the European Court of Arbitration (Irish branch), the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration (SCIA) and an Arbitrator of the Hangzhou Arbitration Commission (HAC).

Sajjad is a graduate of Columbia University, School of Law, New York. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) and the only lawyer based in Pakistan who is a member of CIArb’s Approved Faculty List (AFL) as a tutor for international arbitration law, practice and procedure. He has taught international commercial arbitration to LL.M. students and also conducted training workshops on international arbitration at leading universities in Pakistan, the Lahore High Court and the Pakistan Engineering Council.

Sajjad is a global speaker and has spoken at conferences in China, Malaysia and the U.S. He has also written extensively on international arbitration. In addition to authoring articles published in all major English newspapers in Pakistan, he has authored journal articles/commentaries published in the International Journal of Arab Arbitration (IJAA), a biannually issued journal and the only English publication in its field to enable non-Arab speakers to get acquainted with all aspects of Arab arbitration.
