The Maritime Law Association of Singapore (MLAS) held its annual event on 29-30 September 2016, called the 8th Asian Maritime Law Conference 2016, at InterContinental Singapore. This year, the event was titled “Asian Shipping in Focus: Opportunities & Challenges.”
As board member of the Indonesian Maritime Law Association (IMLA), Juni Dani (our Principal) was invited as one of the speakers for the event. She is also a member of the MLAS.

The MLAS is a national member of the Comité Maritime International (CMI) and represents Singapore at CMI conferences and colloquia. It organizes regular talks throughout the year featuring speakers of local and international reputation and hosts the Asian Maritime Law Conference series, which has now become a signature event.

This two-day conference addresses key areas of concern in the industry, such as challenges due to economic downturn, latest innovations on dispute resolution and recent international regulations adopted by Singapore. Our Principal, Juni Dani, was one of the panelists for the Ship Arrests topic, particularly in relation to Bunker Supply Claims. The event delivered an extensive range of presentations, panel discussions, and practical demonstrations with ample opportunity for audience participation, networking, and exchanging ideas.

It is an honor for us at Budidjaja & Associates (B&A) to become a part of this conference to help MLAS promote and consider other associations’ proposals for unification of maritime law and practice of different nations.
