Earlier this year, the Ministry of Transportation (“MoT”) has issued Regulation No. 7 of 2019 on the Installment and Activation of Automatic Identification System (“AIS”) for Vessels sailing within Indonesian Territorial Waters which require Vessels sailing in Indonesian waters to install and activate AIS starting from 20 August 2019. Following the implementation of this regulation, Directorate General of Sea Transportation of MoT further issued Circular Letter No. 70 of 2019 which in essence regulates that the implementation of administrative sanction under MoT 7/2019 will come into force starting from 20 February 2020.
