Budidjaja & Associates (“B&A”) was visited by representatives and members of Advocates International (http://www.advocatesinternational.org). Advocates International is a worldwide fellowship of Christian lawyers which encourages and enables its members to meet locally, organize nationally, cooperate regionally and link globally to promote justice, rule of law, religious freedom, reconciliation and integrity.

The visitors to B&A – who included Mr. Brent McBurney (President & CEO of Advocates International) and Mr. Mark Mudri (Partner, Mark Mudri & Associates, Lawyers, Australia) – had been part of delegations from several countries that attended the Asia Advocates Conference 2014. This event was the annunal meeting for Advocates International members in Asia. It was organised by the Indonesia Christian Legal Society and held at the Aryaduta Hotel, Lippo Village, Tangerang, Indonesia, from 31 October- 2 November 2014.

The visitors shared information about Advocates International and the issues that were discussed at the Asia Advocates Conference 2014. They also had the chance to hear about the work of B&A and develop relationships with B&A lawyers. Recognising the issues (especially corruption) that Indonesian lawyers are faced with on a regular basis, Mr. McBurney and Mr. Mudri encouraged B&A lawyers to practice law with the highest integrity and compassion and to always seek the truth in every situation. The B&A lawyers who attended the Asia Advocates Conference 2014 spoke about what they gained from the event, including the opportunity to reflect on the purpose of law and being a lawyer, and on how they can take action to improve the lives of the less fortunate.
